SR is here to help you, tizzkins. Its members are understanding and supportive.

Are you drinking now? Have you spoken with your doctor about your drinking or your plans to stop?

I will hold your hand. I am here. Don't be too scared. I was once scared, very scared, long long ago. Believe. Only believe. It will be all right. It can be all right if you only believe. In yourself, your true self. It's best that you not try this alone. Rely on others.

I see you like music and are unemployed. That means you have some time on your hands. If so, then try not to isolate. Avoid just being alone too much. Try to get into a group, whether AA or some other group that's not drinking. Try to help another recovering alcoholic. Contact somebody and get sober together. If this worked for Bill W and Dr. Bob it could work for you. Also avoid music that's too suggestive of rage, protest, etc. since this might be a trigger for drinking. Something a little soothing, more serene. Do you have some family that can be supportive? Are you a student? Belong to some student groups that don't drink? How about exercise? If you feel anxious or uncomfortable why not see a doctor? Be honest and they will help you. But make sure that prescriptions are carefully controlled by the doctor so you don't get another addiction. Unfortunately this happens when doctors have not been properly trained. Be extra careful about anything that might give you a buzz. That's what it's all about. Your body, deprived of alcohol, will try to persuade you to get a buzz, just a little buzz for old times sake. Avoid this like the plague. Just a ticket for more chemical slavery. Only you can do this, with help from others in recovery or professionals if you need them.
