Tough weekend, broken nose, but I'm still here...
I found out that I am super sensitive to alcohol after abstaining as well. My last hangover in August was brutal. I believe the kindling effect happened in that instance and sounds like it did for you as well. Lesson learned for me--whenever the AV talks to me, I remember that experience. Hope it works for you too. Don't be too hard on yourself, we are all human. It's too bad you had to experience that on what was supposed to be a fun weekend. Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery. Rest and take care of you.
Hi Lola
Well done for having a crisis and NOT drinking afterwards. I have also always looked for events like that to justify a relapse. The fact you didn't, even after being hurt in a taxi crash, is cool and encourages people like me.
I am only on my 4th day. Finding myself occasionally trying to re-negotiate with myself when it will be OK to drink a little, and then go back to sobriety. Of course, I know that is just the irrational part of my brain kicking in. I will win.
Anyway, your post was great and inspiring so thank you. Best of luck Lola
PS. I loved Scott's quote below:
It's like someone with a peanut allergy saying, "well, I think I'll try eating some peanuts this weekend and see what happens, but then go back to not eating peanuts on Monday".
