day #7

I finally made it 7 days. But..I feel like I cheated. My doctor put me on ativan and its helped tremendously. I dont plan on taking it anymore though because after taking 0.5 mg twice a day for 3 days I decided to take a break (not supposed to take it all the time bc of the addictive nature) so I didnt take any yesterday, I woke up this morning with a massive panic attack so I took .05 mg this am but refuse to take anymore. Im suffering through so major anxiety today but... I havent been drinking!

I don't think medicines legitimately prescribed and taken as directed is cheating Erin

Congratulations on your week

One week is fantastic Erin!

I took Ativan when I was withdrawing from alcohol, and am still sober almost two years later. Keep doing whatever you need to be successful!

Congratulations, Erin! I wouldn't regard it as cheating either since it is doctor prescribed for a legitimate medical need. Hang in there, you can keep going!

Ativan helped get me through an anxiety attack coupled with withdrawals that landed me in the ER. After the first three days I only took a quarter pill when my anxiety level was out of control. That started in March and I rarely take it anymore.

That said...I don't think it's cheating either. I had a hard time with accepting that as well. Nice job on your seven days!!

I am a fan of the Malcolm X school of sobriety (esp in those first critical hours, days and weeks): "By any means necessary."

Congrats on a week. That's huge!
