Tired Mom
Hi, this is the first time ever using a site like this but I figured its time to reach out to others that are going through the same issues I may be. I have a 23 yr old son that is a heroine addict, about a year now, has been seeing a Dr. and is in a suboxone program for about two months now. However, I suspected he was using, finding needles and cotton all around my house, and his tell tale dark circles under his eyes. He is using in between the suboxone. Just got out of his 5th detox yesterday, and I have to say i'm skeptical. I feel very selfish saying this, but I need to know that i'm not the only one feeling tired from the cycle. All the money I have given him, relationships that I have lost, and all the lying. I know this is a disease, and I have many people giving me advise but knowing what I should do like setting boundries and consequences of actions, but it is far easier to say than to actually do.

Welcome KJ13. It's a very difficult situation to be in, the best thing you can do is get support for yourself as you really cannot control his actions or his addiction. We have a forum here for families and friends of those with subtance abuse/addiction as well if you'd like to check it out

Thanks everyone, its nice to know i'm not alone. I went to my first AA meeting with my son today, and we are going again tomorrow morning. I myself am an alcoholic, I never dealt with it because I was so busy focusing on my son. I think this will be good for the both of us.
