this boredom
this boredom
This boredom that comes with not being drunk all the time, its ******* horrendous. Im going into week 6 and i dont give a **** about anything except wanting to get drunk. Thanks for the vent.
All i can say is that it is your AV screaming and crying for its fix, starve it and it gets weaker.
Apart from that, grind it out . I can honestly think of nothing more boring than drinking now, but it takes time to be able to think this way.

Yikes! When I feel that way, I have decided to do something to help someone else. Last Saturday, I went and bought a $1 box of brownie mix, made brownies and took them to an AA meeting. I am certain if I would've sat there and focused only on my desire to drink, I would have.
Also, mindless TV can help distract and pass the time.

What is your daily activity schedule
Maybe introducing some new hobbies that take up some time and energy ?
6wks is still early don't give in it will only take 1drink to flush nearly 6 wks down the drain and believe me your doing really well remember why you got sober
Don't give up I'm rooting for you

Do you have a recovery plan ? Simply abstaining is what we commonly describe as being a dry drunk. IMO, its important to work on what is causing the desire to drink. As its often said, alcohol is only 10% of the problem, the other 90% resides within one's head. Sobriety is hard work and one does need to work it. The rewards are very much worthwhile !

But you don't drink anymore so that's not an option. I agree with the addictive voice trying to consume your thoughts. That's not the non-drinking real you who has the desire to stay sober. I've proven to myself that the thought itself to go buy booze and get drunk feels exciting and better than the actually drinking. The addictive voice paints a pretty picture. I'd rather feel bored than drunk and have to start the insanity all over.
I think boredom is the lesser of two evils.
Write up a realistic schedule that you'll stick to even if its coming on here a few times a day/week/month
Write a list of things you like doing or would like to do remembering to keep it realistic
There's always the forum and often its the little things that make us happy
Good luck

I'm not a alcoholic but I have likened my need for validation and "dating" as being an addiction and I'm also struggling on the weekends... its when we most where able to feed those addictions. Starving them is as hard as being right handed and not reaching for something with my right hand.....how I'm getting by today is recognizing it.. instead I have reached out with my left hand here and have asked a friend if we could do something tonight....
Boredom vs. anxious, guilt, shaking, sweaty, puking, sore muscles, can't remember anything..et al.
yup - I'll take boredom for $500 Alex.
weekends are hard, long weekends hardER.
Do you have any plans to keep busy? hobbies? something new to try? a day trip somewhere?
