Hi there!
Hello everyone! Looking forward to sharing with everyone and supporting a community of folks looking for recovery just like me.
I'm a single mom who very recently has found myself with an empty nest. Three years ago, when I was still drinking moderately, I put my beloved daughter on a plane to college and soon-to-be ex-husband on a Navy ship to Japan. I found myself home alone with a teenage son, who is great, but very social so I was alone a lot. I found myself drinking more and more to numb myself instead of dealing with all the feelings of a broken marriage, missing my daughter and an uncertain future. I spent my son's high son's high school years pretty much drunk every night - a something I'm not proud of, just a fact. Now I'm trying to reverse that pattern. I'm seeking counseling to deal with the feelings of loss - divorce and kids gone. Hoping that sharing on this forum helps.

Right there with you, Mama...same situation. It is suddenly very quiet here and I am not drinking even though no one would ever know except the dog. It is a good test. Hang in there with me, will you? We can do this!
