I don't know why
But after this long of sobriety I woke up this morning early to prep for court (4:16 am here) and I'm staying at my best friends and I got a glass of water and he has a giant bottle of gin just right there.
Why would I want to throw this all away? Help

Well, why would you? Not saying that to be mean, but look back on what you were like before stopping. Do you want to go back to that? Put the bottle in a cupboard where you can't see it, tell that whiney AV of yours to shut the hell up and get prepped for court!
Hey lawgirl, I don't know why sometime the alcohol stares back at us but it does and we need to shake our heads and shut the AV down...the thoughts that can pass through our minds in any given hour are in the thousands and we pay them no attention, let the thoughts of drinking be one of those, just a thought.
You have got this, walk away from the alcohol and let yourself know that it is bound to happen from time to time...it doesn't mean we have to act on it.....

I too am headed to court this morning. Sleep has been absent. Luckily there is nothing in my house to drink or I'm sure I would have at this point. Lets hope that because of our hard work we can both be successful today yeah?
Good luck and keep up the good work

Stress. Court has your anxiety spiked a little and your AV sees an opportunity. Don't fret about it. It's what AV's do.
If you could control the messages it sent you, then you would have long ago. It does what it does, and we move on.
Go get'em!

Hi. I think it’s fairly simple. We don’t drink even if we want to. If it stays in the bottle and stays there we stay sober. We will be “tested” in many ways as life goes on whether we drink or not. We must become by habit disciplined and get past our undisciplined nature.
Getting sober is work and practice and in the beginning I wanted too many things my way, fortunately I got help to see my errors.
BE WELL

Good on you for not drinking it and getting through
It does just sometimes happen that the craving arises so unexpectedly or we see alcohol in an unusual setting and just think 'What if?' For me, this was the hardest thing. I could stop for a few weeks but when unexpected temptation arose the only thing I knew what to do was drink. I relapsed a few times because of this.
Then, with the help of SR I learned I didn't have to act on my thoughts. It would and did pass. Each time it happened and I didn't drink I got stronger. It still happens now at 20 months but I see it for what it is and it is fleeting. You're building your sober muscles as Dee would say

Good for you not drinking! I don't have a single bottle of alcohol in the house but I'm still tempted to drink. Although, I am in the early stages of my sobriety.
Good for you though! Now go to work and enjoy your day!
