Re: My first day again

Hi there daisy !

Welcome to SR! you will soon get the hang of it . You have found a great place for support and friendship!

Drink plenty of fluids, rest when you need to, and post away , we are here for you .

It might be an idea to see your Doc and be very honest with him re your drinking , sometimes it is a good idea to have medical support , while with drawing
Take care , and hang around

Re: My first day again

Hi daisey,

You can do this. I know it seems like an endless cycle but you have the power within you to stay stopped. Go back to meetings, find a counselor or therapist, but find a means of support for yourself. I know I couldn't do it alone, I had given up, but I eventually found my way, and so can you. We're here for you rooting you on!

Re: My first day again

When I don't feel like going to a meeting, I try to remember the times I walked in forty below cold to get to the liquor store a couple miles away. Sounds great daisy! And you already know this, but I'll say it anyway. Keep coming back.

Re: My first day again

Coming back can be a lesson in humility, rather than a humiliation. If there’s an attribute that we need to couple with that Honesty, Openness and Willingness that is the “HOW of the program, it’s a certain degree of humility. Welcome Home, cause that’s where ya are, ya know. That “first day,--------again can be the very thing that spells out the prescription that there never has to be another first day-------again.

I don't know if I'll be much help (my husband is the A in my life) but I just want you to know that I'm thinking of you and know how hard this must be. I admire your strength. Please keep trying. Things will get better.
Sending you peace - L

Re: My first day again

hi daisy,

mm sounds like you hubby doesnt understand that he needs your help just as much as when you are sober as when you arent. just cause youre not drinking doesnt mean you dont need his support to do things, and even do them together. his does when you were drinking probably enabled you to keep drinking. tell him that his help now with enable you to stay sober!!!

hugs

Re: My first day again

Oh! Daisy ! I am so glad you posted , it does help doesnt it ? You know , it was SR that saw me thru the first week or so of my sobriety . At times I could not call people, like in the middle of the nite , as you are now.

hang in there Daisy, we are here for you , your husband may well feel scared and threatened by your sobriety , give him time to settle, and remember , you are doing this for YOU, and it is YOU who count right now !

Just dont pick up a drink .......TODAY under any circumstances.

hang tight

daisy
i have just re read what i wrote and what i meant to say was that your hubby needs to know you need his help as much sober as when you are not. not sure that was clear.

hope you are having a better day

Welcome back, Daisy,
I wasn't here when you first came around, but I still want to congratulate you on almost 90 days. You're right about just not picking up. As long as we don't pick it up, we don't have to put it down. Let us know how it goes tomorrow!

Hi Daisey,
Welcome back. You are doing the right thing by chatting with sober people and it takes alot of strength to return after a relapse. Remember you are always welcome!!
