New people, jump right in please
Going to meetings is great, not drinking today is great
Recovery has so much more to offer
You need to undergo a significant change in personality to make this work
AA has a plan
This plan may seem questionable to you at first....it did me
I've always been a big planner, but I questioned this plan
They offered to:
1) save my life
2) make me a better person
3) take some of that pain away
I thought about it for awhile and said, "nah, I'm good....I've got my own plan...but do you mind if I hang around here every day?" They said "sure".
Their plan has a pretty good track record
"Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path"
Hmm....these guys following THAT plan seemed to be doing OK
After a while I said to heck with it, I'm following their plan
I started each day with Reading, Prayer and Meditation
I started with 30 minutes but got up to 60 RPM soon
If you're not sure who you're praying to don't sweat it
Prayer and meditation can take less than 10 minutes
Going over the Big Book and 12 & 12 to become knowledgeable
about the step you're on takes little time too
I can report no major calamities occurring as a result of my morning RPMs
In fact, everyone seemed to start noticing change in me
You can sit around and ask or you can "just do it".
Just do it, please.
You can't sit inside a car wash and suddenly become a car.
