Talk me out of it

I'm tempted to drink right now. Biggest craving I've had yet. Please someone talk me out of this. I know I'll regret it if I do. I currently have 10 days.

Congrats on 10 days! Don't give in, it will pass. Find something else to do, anything, DO NOT DRINK.

You will regret it, don't do it new stay and talk to us far more entertaining than drinking alone!

If you can physically change where you are. Go for a walk, run, car ride, bicycle ride, etc.

Anewpage - Don't put yourself through that. You'll be filled with regret & guilt. It WON'T take you where you want to go - promise.

Cravings?

First off, I have them even after >4 months sober. Sometimes so bad that I want to .... do what's not allowed here.

So yeah I've had some awful cravings. I usually eat, walk, or talk with someone in SR or AA.

Sometimes in life we make bad choices because we simply misunderstand or underestimate the situation. That's understandable.

But when you know -- you KNOW -- that picking up is at bare minimum going to bring despair, anxiety, regret and a punch in the self-esteem, with likely lasting physical illness to boot, and in many cases damage to personal relationships, etc -- that's not an understandable mistake.

IF you know the lion is hungry, don't go sticking your head in his mouth. Leave the booze alone. Have a soda and some popcorn, watch Forrest Gump on Netflix, have some ice cream and go to bed.

The fact that you recognize that it's a craving is a good thing. I think that for me I never linked the craving and what my brain was doing. It will pass, trust me!

Go to sleep as soon as humanly possible. That always helps me out of a jam!

Don't want to repeat what you might know, make you don't have any of the HALT triggers. You can resist this urge, think about the worst hangover you ever had and things done under the influence.

You totally got this and we got your back ;-)

Hi anewpage, I came here tonight because I, too, have a wicked craving tonight.
I cannot disappoint myself AGAIN, and you don't want to either. The morning after is absolute h*ll. I just ate a good meal and I feel a tad better. I'm going to stick around here, or possibly get to bed real early.

Don't lose your sobriety, it's not worth it. You do not want to be back on day 1!! I know I don't.
Hang in there!

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!

I had a HUGE bowl of ice cream and kept telling my AV to go away, and the craving has passed. I'm so glad I came here before going to the store (which was my plan).

ImperfectlyMe, I knew you weren't calling me a fool, hehe. I appreciate the LZ reference

Awesome!!
I just got back from a 2 mile walk which helped a lot. I feel a little stronger every time I make it through a craving.
We can do this!
