I'm not near qualified to answer that, Elle, but what feels different for me this time is I have no doubt that I'll end up at best broken and lonely and at worst dead. Previously there was some doubt; now I can clearly see where I'm headed.
There is too much joy to be had in life for me to keep making excuses for why I can't get sober today. It needs to be today.

Just checking in, I got about 3 poor hours of sleep last night and can't keep my eyes open. I hope to get some better rest tonight and be more awake and energized tomorrow. Day 2 was mostly a success in that I did not consume an alcoholic beverage. Still intend to move ahead with recovery, but I need sleep to function safely and effectively.
Needless to say, wasn't too productive at work today.
