TV Shows that Center around Drinking
TV Shows that Center around Drinking
Hi,
My original post was much longer but lost it.
The short version...
I love the show, Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia - The characters own a bar.
Like shows like:
Friends With Better Lives - Always drinking wine.
Mixology - A series about one night in a bar.
Is it wrong to watch TV shows or movies that center around and/or glorify drinking?
BTW, on day 12. Am I over thinking things? I feel pretty manic right now. Yikes!
Thx.

Thanks Dee,
I don't know if its a trigger or more of a nostalgic thing (if that even makes sense) on how the old day used to be...
Not that want I to go back, but is it ok to say...
I did have some good times and adventures, back in the day, when I wasn't "abusing" alcohol...
Or maybe I am just fooling myself?

I think it would be a lot easier to quit if all we had were bad times
I think all of us had good times too, especially near the beginning.
Those good times are what our inner addict uses to draw us back in.
They don't even have to be our good times...sometimes even a TV show will do.
Remember to 'play the tape the whole way through' and also remember what happened after the good times.
You won't usually see that on TV.

Personally, I think you almost have to be an alcoholic to really get It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I relate FAR too much to Frank and Charlie, and even Dennis at times. That being said, I'm not sure I could have watched it in early recovery. It hit too close to home, and would have definitely been too nostalgic for me.
Now, the GF and I can watch it, and she finds so much of it to be ridiculous whereas I don't find any of it to be all that far-fetched.
But as others have said, if it's a trigger, then it's probably something to be avoided.
