Alcohol use disorder
Alcohol use disorder
I read an article today about how certain medications have "off label" applications in solving "alcohol use disorders".
Really? Is that what we are calling it now?
Oh how we have grown over the years...
Bum --> alky --> drunk --> alcoholic --> alcohol use disorder???
It takes the whole issue and dumbs it down and softens it so those who judge can feel better about it.
Or maybe I am just in an off mood and the ring to it angered me.
Call me what you want, I don't give a damn.
I'll call me sober and be done with it!

Interesting post Weasel!
Alcohol Use Disorders | National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA)
I had a laugh and then thought actually this may be of some help to those who are so far in denial that they wouldn't ever consider themselves an alcoholic:
"How dare you i am not an alcoholic i suffer from alcohol use disorder!" Said with a look of disdain, mixed with an air of 'i am better than...'
"AA...no way...they are those alcoholics...i suffer from alcohol use disorder!"
Nah they will deny they have alcohol use disorder too;-)

Interesting, Weasel.
It seems to me that 'recovery' and 'rehab' have become the 'in' thing these days. Recovery is the new Black.
And it also feels like it is sometimes not treated as seriously as it really is.
It was a question of life or death to me.

I thought alcohol use disorder was when i couldn't poor it in the glass because of my shaky hands and double vision and poor co-ordination .
I haven't tripped over my socks in over 3 years , sobriety certainly cured me of my balance and inanimate object tumbling disorder ..
Who'd have thought it ?
