Looking For Excuses
Looking For Excuses
I am a Fox News freak. During my very
short periods of sobriety, I would use
the excuse in my head that the news
and economy upset me so much, I
had to have a drink, back to the sauce.
Hell, a button popped off of my shirt,
I need a drink!
Scared the daylights out of my wife this
afternoon. Had some PC problems
that upset me and I started vocalizing.
She came into the room and said,
"Don't even think about it". I assured
her I wasn't going to the store.

What's key is accepting that you can't pick up the first one....then it really doesn't matter where the stores are, you don't even consider it. It takes time- and coming on SR or hitting a meeting when you get urges is exactly what you should be doing - keep it up!

there was one time I was visiting family in Alabama and the county we were in didn't sell liquor on Sunday and I was going to drive the two hours it would take me to get to the nearest county that sold liquor. My husband wouldn't let me waste the gas. Congrats on resisting.
That Is true DeeBee.
Now I can understand why so many
stores get burglarized. When you
got to have it, you will go to almost
any length to get it. When I was in
MN, I once drove 60 miles to get a
case, and got there minutes before
they closed. I use to keep an emergency
supply under the bed, but I would
usually end up drinking that all up,
in spite of knowing the shakes were
around the corner.
