Good Sleep

It feels really good to wake up refreshed after an 10/11 hour sleep. I guess this is what my body needs in early recovery - day 7 today. It feels so different to waking when I'm trying to sleep off the alcohol consumed the day/night before.

Congrats. Alcohol is terrible for sleep - must feel nice to be sleeping good.

Congrats on 7 days!! I envy you your sleep . Nothing quite like opening your eyes leisurely and realising you feel great. Keep up the good work.

Congrats on 7 days Sleep is also one of my greatest rewards of sobriety, as is waking up energized and clear headed. I never want to feel another hangover again@!

You are off to a GREAT start! Lots of people, myself included would have done ANYTHING to get that kind of sleep so early on, it was ROUGH in the early days to say the least. Consider yourself very lucky....... I barely got 2 hours a night first 10 days or so. I've noticed a lot of people on here also report lousy sleep early on.......... alcohol just does such a number on our nervous system so im not surprised.

Lucky, lucky, lucky

Yeah - I really get the tiredness too. I just went for a bike ride with my family and I had to turn around and come home after a half hour - just didn't have the energy.

I found that if youre in the beginning of recovery it really helps to do a body cleanse followed or paird with a good deep tissue massage. I was a skeptic at first with the whole massage thing until i got a deep tissue and I literally felt the toxins release within a few hours -- it was amazing. You'll feel a little nausiated at first but that's normal. It means the toxins are coming out. After the cleanse and massage start a regular workout program. If you think you're getting great sleep now just wait and see what's next. Good luck

Hi Dynarider 1233

That's good advice. When I finally realised I was desperate to get sober and couldn't do it alone I phoned someone I know who does health coaching - I first saw her two weeks ago and today was our third meeting - I have totally changed my diet and am exercising daily ( not such a task as I've always exercised regularly because I knew it was helpful for my mental health). I do feel really good - getting rid of processed foods, eating wheat alternatives, given up coffee and most sugar and drinking lots of Ayurvedic tea. My digestive system is feeling so much better.
