I used to go to Al-Anon and Alateen when I was younger, but I never saw the need for a Sponsor, as I figured I wasn't the alcoholic (at the time, my dad was)!! . . . so I simply used it for support and advice, maybe someone else can explain why a friend/family member of an alcoholic needs a Sponsor?

But back to the issue, If I needed counselling or a psychologist I would have been referred by my Dr to one!!
