Was hard but made it to day 6!
Hi y'all,
After dealing with a majorly stressful situation, I was headed to get my "fix" but didn't ... So am on day 6. Someone yesterday mentioned how drinking is like a shovel. I faced the music today about what that trigger was and was honest w myself and how I've allowed this relationship to take so much from me that I would chose to hurt myself w alcohol to escape instead of stand up for myself . So, progress made but still majorly intimidated about the future. My respect for those of you who have successfully fought and beat this thing grows each day.

Nice work on 6 days! As the amazing people on these forums have told me, take it a day at a time (or even an hour at a time if needed)...before you know it, the days will begin to rack themselves up I'm newly sober as well and while dealing with life without the intentional fog of alcohol or drugs can be difficult, it is always worth it when you wake up with the sense of accomplishment for making it another day! Keep up the great work!
I'm glad you made it through today.

You are doing the work and it shows in your post. Getting sober is actually not that difficult.
Sustaining it is what the challenge is. And by learning to analyse and recognize our emotions we learn how to cope, without the booze.
