Lip smackin' good...not!

Is anyone else addicted to lip balm? I have this stuff in every room of my house, in every handbag, in my car. I'm sure there must be an ingredient in it that gets us hooked!

I watched a video of myself yesterday as I'm taking an acting on camera course, and I couldn't believe how many times I licked my lips! I know I must try not to do this.

Seriously, does anyone know what I'm talking about and if so, might you share some tips as to how to beat this addiction/affliction?
Apologies in advance to those who may think I'm making light of an addiction issue in this regard. I mean no harm.
I really do want to be able to leave this stuff behind!

I use ChapStick two or three times a day. I carry a stick of it in my pocket at all times. I've read that it can be physically addictive. Using it too often seems to interfere with the body's ability to naturally lubricate the lips. I don't know if that's true or not, but if I don't use it on a daily basis, my lips quickly become dry and painfully cracked. I don't lick my lips so I'm not sure what causes my particular problem.

Google "lip balm addiction" and you will find a lot of information about the topic. One nice thing about lip balm addiction: you won't ever get a DUI for your habit

I have to use it because if my lips are dry, I have a terrible habit of pulling the dry skin off and making them bleed xxxxxxxxxxxx

YES ME!!! Totally addicted. I buy carmex by the box and I always have an extra box on hand. I put it on while I eat. I have them at every chair, by the bed, in the drawers, etc. bit I do not know how to stop. I go crazy without it.

I do. I use Lypsyl and it has to be Lypsyl and it has to be the plain one. I have one in both of my purses and one in my room. I don't leave home without it .

Maybe it's a nervous habit. Hey, I'm no expert. But I have a tendency to bite my nails when I get nervous. Most of me stopping it was just being aware I was doing it. And now that you mention it, I have a friend who always is carmexing her lips. I never really noticed before.

Hope you find an answer to help you.

Call me crazy but I was told many years ago that carmex can create a dependency. The reason supposedly was it has very tiny pieces of glass...(that's what I was told, like fiber glass) that cut your lips make them sting, you put it on, it cuts your lips....and so on and so on...I have no idea if there is an ounce of truth to that or not but I can't bring myself to use it now. I love the little eos lip balm eggs....in fact...maybe too much!!!

Guilty. I'm addicted to lip gloss. I literally have it on all the time. I'm so bad I have 10 tubes on back up in my vanity, 4 in my purse, two in each of my coats and a tube next to my computer at work.

Clearly, i have a problem.

Have any of your guys tried Bag Balm? It has a totally different formulation, it used to be really hard to find but now I see it everywhere. A friend's father who is a surgeon recommended it to me years ago. Not to put you off but it was first used on cow udders….(maybe I should be on another thread). I don't think it comes in sticks though.

Edit: I just googled Bag Balm to see how hard it is to find and look what I found…
