I hate to be the bearer of bad news but....... it doesn't go away, at least it hasn't gone away for me, and I'm on day 42. I think the last time i fell asleep naturally without drugs, alcohol, or other "help" was sometime in 2012....... it's scary to think what this substance does to our brains, we used to be able to fall asleep right away........ enter alcohol and suddenly we can't sleep AT ALL, it's such a sick joke......... a terrible one too.
Drink lots of Chamomile tea and best of luck, you're going to need it!
NOTE TO SELF: in the future use only drugs that do not interfere with sleep
I suggest you read Sleeping with Snoozin. It is a great book on sleep.
Your body's nervous system is still on overload from all the drinking. It needs time to settle down and then you'll start sleeping.
I had chronic insomnia before I stopped drinking and still am having a hard time. I am soo thankful to be sober now and would rather be sober than all the sleep in the world. Hang in there!
