insanity

so here are the wonderful things about sobriety...

no hangover yeah
feel so much better
look so much better
don't have to fake your way through a conversation because you don't remember anything about the night before.
getting more done
spending more time with loved ones

and still as I look in the mirror at the end of the day after brushing my teeth I say ..God I wish I had a drink......INSANITY

Keep naming those good things and the day will come where you brush your teeth at night and you say, I am soooo glad I didn't drink.

the thoughts of addiction are truely messed up, but keep focusing on all those good things, and keep pushing through!!

Today is one of those "glad I didn't drink yesterday" moments. I wasn't feeling well yesterday and it was St Pats day, so I was tempted, but SO grateful to wake up sober today.

Keep on staying sober and those thoughts will eventually go away.

To quote Robin Williams, "Alcoholics violate their morals faster than they can lower them."

That about sums up my insane addiction.

Welcome to a possible new healthy lifestyle. Many alcoholics including myself must have had our wiring changed by drinking. Looking at the facts of what has taken place we are insane to thing another truckload of alcohol will make our lot better.
I needed to surrender to the fact I could no longer drink in safety just one drink. Then I needed to get honest with myself about my drinking and rid myself of the undisciplined ways of my life whether I liked it or not.
That was my start.

BE WELL

Yes, it really is insanity.

I know that if I didn't drink for a day (during my drinking days), I thought I was sober. But, looking back, I see that my thinking was still a mess.

I just printed your post and stuck it to my bulletin board as a reminder because I tend to forget those things when all I can think about is my pal Johnnie Walker. Thanks so much!
