Hi,
My name is Andy and I'm an alcoholic.
Currently dry for 10 months, about now is the anniversary of the series of events that made me realise I had a problem.
For my story to make sense you need to know I volunteer with a charity one weekend per month some members of which use alcohol to relax.
I arrived home after a weekend away with an empty wallet and couldn't justify the expenditure. I knew I'd drunk too much and said I'd cut down. The next month within minutes of arriving, a member offered me a bottle of beer and I accepted and felt like a weak ****, so gave it back and admitted I had a problem. What a weight off that was.
Next month the group are staying in the pub where I had my last binge so I've said I won't go. Maybe in a years time I'll be strong enough to join the group for this next weekend.
I found this board looking for answers to questions I had about addiction and recovery. Reading the boards has answered them and more. Thank you
