messed up
I've been a heavy drinker for many years...
Last year I wasn't able to use my left hand for a couple of months due to a saturday night palsy... It didn't make me stop drinking. No sir. I could drink one handedly, couldn't I?
Tuesday I drank a truckload of shots and beers, wednesday i couldn't get out of bed (shivering like hell), thursday I drank two bottles of wine en I don't remember how many beers etcetera etcetera.
I've had enough. Everything's messed up... I need to get a hold of my life. I really cannot cope with the headaches and the stomachaches, with the pain and the depressions anymore.
I've decided to stop drinking. Today. March 14 2014.

It's good to have you here with us, JohnJoseph
I've learned so very much from the wisdom and honesty of the folk here. They have inspired me to stay sober for 13 months and counting. . .
Miracles can and do happen. I read about them here every day

Welcome JohnJoseph! The ongoing drinking thing generally doesn't work out for any of us; glad you have decided to make some life changes. This is a great place for support and information. Glad you are checking in with your doc....I did the same and it was good for me to get real honest with her so I could get the right type of help I needed. Stay strong...you can do this!
Welcome to a great place. You will find all kinds of interesting and helpful people here. If this is your first run at quitting, you will be amazed how good (or better!) you will feel in a couple weeks. FYI- this a PI day, an awesome day for a sobriety birthday!
