I did'nt have a drink since 12 jan and stopped smoking about a month ago (5 feb).I have a 3 mnths plan for drinking! (i know!)
I'm too emotional,,feeling happy now and then 10 min later want to cry! Is this normal? How long is it going to last?

Hey aistar ,

mood swings kinda levelled out for me after about 90 days … I think i had a mild depression that hung round for 6 months and the cravings seemed to get less frequent until they stopped after 12 months or so … ( i hope) .

I guess we are all different though and things take different times .

Keep on

Bestwishes, m

Mood swings are normal and common in early recovery. Hang in there. It will get better.

Mood swings, energy changes, sex drive fluctuations, chocolate cravings, driven thinking

lasted about three months, and to a much lesser extent after - at six months I think my emotional system and thinking started to work "normally"

I always chased the buzz and one or two were never enough- I have been sober 3 years in a few months- I know my basic tendency has not changed no matter how "recovered" I am- drinking in "moderation" is not something I can pull off in the longer term

sobriety is a great option- gives me peace in my mind, and warmth in my soul
