Sugar, I've been looking for a sponsor. I asked on person and she turned me down. There are not many of us out here in the middle of nowhere so selection is somewhat limited.

I can relate to the living in the middle of nowhere and selection being limited. I do have a sponsor...there were 2 women to choose from at the time. I have phone numbers of many AA men and women. I learn a lot from asking questions at the meetings and in the car on the way too and from. I car pool with other AA people. I also learned a great deal from Joe and Charlie CD's. That was the greatest help of all in the beginning. You can get it on ebay it's an 11 cd set of a conference in Boca Rotan. They explain the Big Book and the steps in a way that I could understand.
In my opinion you do need the Big Book. Everything else are just helpful tools and there is a lot out there. Read the Big Book from beginning to end. It is written as a textbook so don't jump around. Good luck! (((hugs)))

In rehab they handed me a brand new
Big Book and a 12 and 12 steps and
traditions book which became my very
first set of tools to help me learn how
to stay sober a day at a time.

There are many Big Book Studies and
Steps meeting, where we read and learn.
The same way we do when in grade school,
high school, college, trade school etc.

I was a student learning from many
teachers for a long time over the yrs.
and today I continue to remain teachable.

Im never too old to learn new things in
recovery.
