Just saying hello
Just saying hello
Hi All,
Just wanted to stop by and say hello. It's been awhile since I have posted but I am still sober (11 1/2 months today!) and still doing well. Lots of travel happening in my life right now for work so I will be checking in much more regularly as you all are my rock when I come back to that empty hotel room at night. It has gotten considerably better but there are sometimes those fleeting moments of "Remember when I didn't have to stay in my hotel room at night and could hang in the bar?"
Of course, those moments are increasingly rare and I wouldn't trade one minute of the way my sober life is now for the way my drunk life was then. Not even a second on the crappiest of days, really.
It's amazing what living in a healthy body free of shame, anger and feelings of self-hatred will do to improve your life
Anyway, just wanted to say hello and wish everyone well.
Lots of love from a very, very cold Washington, DC.

Nice to hear from you Ptca and congrats on your sober time!
I agree, I also wouldn't trade the crappiest sober day for a drunk day now.
And I never, ever thought I would be able to survive without drinking again "someday".
My attitude about that, like yours, has done a total turnaround.
It's wonderful, isn't it?

I know exactly what you mean. I actually started my daily drinking in a bar at a hotel while traveling for work......
I really should have just watched some of those pay-per-view movies instead. My company even pays for 2 of those a week.

Congrats, Ptcapote! I'm not anywhere near the year mark (day 26 today) but I am definitely feeling much better - mentally, emotionally and physically. You're an inspiration, thank you. Great job and glad you checked in!!
