Feeling a bit timid.
Hello--
I'm Emme, a 21-year-old student who has a drinking problem. I'd say it started about a half-year ago and escalated due to poor self esteem and stress issues. It was after being in a behavioral health unit that my problem came to my family's full attention. I was sober for about a month until I had some drinks early this week and somehow ended up in detox. (With no legal or health ramifications, PTL.)
I'm feeling a bit lost, to be honest. I have a fiance, who has always been sober, and this is hurting him. He's such a phenomenal support system that I simply can't put him or my family through this anymore. My parents are currently staying at my apartment (I live by myself) until we can get me enrolled into an outpatient program on Monday. We tried calling every place in the vicinity on Friday, with no answers back. My next course of action is to go into the places physically.
I'm ready to stop this awful way of living that I've resorted to and be the person that I know that I can be. I can't risk ruining my life or anybody else's over something that has such a negative impact on my life. While it might be a life-long process to stay sober, I want to be healthy in both mind and body as soon as I can.

Hi Emme: Welcome. You will find much support here on SR. I suggest reading as much as you can on this site so that you can really appreciate what the progression of alcoholism looks like, and develop tools to abstain from drinking. It has helped me immensely. I believe in you!

Welcome meme I hope you can stick around and we can all do this journey with you. Sobriety is completely possible and achievable and I know your life would be so much better for it. Keep posting on your progress. All the best
Welcome. The fact that you've come to this conclusion that you need to be sober is a huge step forward. You're a young person who has so much to offer to the world. Don't let alcohol divert you. Thank you for posting.
