My First Year Sober! 12-24-2013
I'm a little late posting this but spent Christmas with family in another state.
I am now OFFICIALLY over a year sober -- not one single sip of booze in over 365 days. I'm blown away at myself that I did this. I also established a regular aerobic exercise habit this year -- so I accomplished two MAJOR HUGE goals and turned my health around. Booze had taken over long ago and was dragging me down to certain catastrophe -- but no more!
It doesn't stop here. I have to formulate two more big hairy goals for 2014 That's my task today. I already have a good idea what they are going to be, BUT -- the fact remains that I could never have gotten to this point unless I quit the drinking. My life began a year ago; I stopped staying in one place feeling sorry for myself and drowning in vodka.
I did tell my parents about my accomplishment but they hardly reacted to it. They are in their 80s and had no idea I even had a drinking problem, so it was probably a lot to take in. Before I told them, my dad kept offering me wine or a night cap (hahah!!). It was funny to me how easy it was to say NO.

That's brilliant, Miyako!
I love the fact that you're 'blown away' by your achievement! I've started to feel like that in the last couple of weeks and it's a wonderful feeling.
Enjoy! You've more than earned it!

RIGHT ON!!!!!
That's awesome. I had nearly 6 months at one point... then made a conscious decision that I was "OK" and went back to allowing booze in my life. Recently decided that experiment was an abysmal failure and that conclusion deeply flawed. I look forward to the one-year mark and your post is a timely inspiration.
Thank you, and keep it up!
