night sweats and frequent urination
night sweats and frequent urination
Most of my physical withdrawls have subsided, although I still wake up soaking wet a few times every night so far. I had been drinking roughly 12 beers a day for years. I did have 18 days sober in July and don't remember the night sweats lasting this long
I'm wondering how long it could take until they subside. Other than that I'm feeling great and eating healthy. I feel much less bloated, but I'm still waking up to pee a lot, about as much as I did before I stopped.
Hope this doesn't come across as medical advice, just looking for some insight. Maybe I'm still getting rid of excess water weight or something. I feel thinner already.

I used stopped night sweats in a week or so...I can;t recall having to get up to go to the toilet tho.
these symptoms could be withdrawal related but 18 days seems a little long...they could be indicative a lot of other things too, like diabetes.
Of course I'm not a Dr and I'm not suggesting anything - it's best to see a Dr if you're concerned.

Good luck!!
I had sleep disturbances for months, as well as frequent night trips to the john. Night sweats were normal while drinking so when they went away I was surprised at that benefit. I did have my blood work done monthly for three months. Twice in the first month. So I had that to be sure. All in all I had six months of PAWS, and it wasn't until a year before I really felt the surprises were over.
I too had the folks here and for the first three months only AA to cash my reality checks for me until I had my own account with a balance to draw from.

Your body is ridding itself of toxins and, as a result, you're losing a lot of "water weight."
Regardless, if you haven't had a recent physical, make an appointment with your physician. Our bodies go through dramatic changes while we're drinking, and then again when we struggle to get sober.

It took about two weeks if I remember correctly. I would sleep on a towel and change my clothes overnight for a week straight. Slowly over the next week the sweating and chills went away.
I drank the same amount as you, always an evening when the kids are in bed kind of drinker. I am pretty sure the only person to see me drunk was my wife in a roughly fifteen year career as a professional closet alcoholic. Luckily my kids were young enough that they never saw me drink and I sure hope to keep it that way.
I would give the sweating a few more days but the urinating isn't a problem I had. Best advice is see a Dr.

I dropped 35 pounds in about two months and was living off junk food. My face looked completely different after about 2 weeks. The weight loss has leveled off some, I am about five and a half months sober, but I seem to lose a pound or two a month. I am not getting as much exercise as I was early on though as sub-zero temperatures and snow do not entice me to take my dogs on long walks. Only about another 20 to go Definitely one of my favorite benefits of sobriety.
