Alcoholic thinking does change
Alcoholic thinking does change
I was reflecting this morning about how I think when I see people have a "few" drinks, or "just one". When I first got sober my thought was that a few drinks or just one was better than none. It could potentially take the edge off or give me that warm feeling even if only for awhile, it would be a blissful moment at least.
Now my thinking has changed. Having a "few" or "just one" would seem like a total waste. It wouldn't be enough. It wouldn't bring me to that "place" my alcoholic mind wanted. There is a huge difference between UNDERSTANDING this concept as we often learn in our early sobriety, and KNOWING this to be true for us. It has taken me almost a year in to my sobriety to really know this to be true.
