I'm back

After 33 months of sobriety I went back out again into what turned into a 5 month downward spiral.

No trigger. I made a conscious choice to go back out and drink. Needless to say I knew going in and confirmed that I will never be a social drinker.

Quit again on the 11th of December, using Antabuse because it worked for me before. Also AA worked before but I stopped going due to my night shift schedule. SR worked also but I just stopped putting forth the effort.

A few positives. I'm back here. I go back to day shift January 2nd which will free me up to go to meetings.

Glad to be back here!!!

Glad you put the brakes on before five months turned into years. 33 months is great…you can do it again.

I did not know you before but look forward to your posts now. I used to own a Formula Race team. We had races every year at VIR. My only experience in Roxboro was fighting a speeding ticket I got trying to catch a flight out of RDU after my race at VIR.

Hey bud! WB!!!!
You were right behind me. I thought that same train of thought all the way through and decided the known outcome wasn't worth the effort. I am happy just to be here to say WB, and be glad one of the long timers didn't auger in. No way I am ever doing that cycle again. I am now officially too lazy to go through all the drinking detoxing PAWS and assorted crap again. Hope you're done now too. Thanks for sharing.

It's so good to see you back TinMan. The last time I played with it I also confirmed I can never be a social drinker. I always knew it, but needed further proof I guess.

I'm about 15 minutes from the VIR.

I have no idea why. I was on the way to see a friend and just decided to give it a try.

for me, the decision/choice thing was huge.
the not-knowing-why but claiming to have made a conscious decision.
a conscious decision in all other areas involves being clear on why i'm deciding.

making a supposedly conscious decision while knowing it will be out of control...begs some questions, no? ("Needless to say I knew going in and confirmed that I will never be a social drinker.")

not trying to hound you here personally, just that this seems a big sticking point for relapse and its prevention.

the odd phenomenon of saying we know but doing it anyway...or claiming we know but somehow need to confirm...or saying we know but deep down we don't believe it...saying we know yet still thinking next/this time might turn out differently.....the crux of staying sober seems to be meshed into all this.
