6 months!!
Been some time since I posted, but wanted to share that I have reached the 6 months point in my recovery. At a meeting this week, as I shared about making it to 6 months, it was pointed out that although I have not had continuous sobriety, I was sober for 26+ years before I relapsed, and I still have all that recovery time. Somewhat softens the blow to my shame at drinking after so many many sober years; years with raising a wonderful son, a very successful career and a happy home. It would take too long in this post to go into the AV thinking that paved the path to a relapse, but trust me, once a pickle, always a pickle. I am so amazed to be rediscovering the strong sober woman within. I attend a medical program, AA and at night lurk here on SR...amazing how technology has improved the resources available since I first got sober in 1981!
So, thanks SR people- you are amazing! Long term sobriety is possible and the rewards are awesome!!
