Just returned from a meeting. I got some more numbers and talked to my sponsor about how to pray and I read the 24 hours in a day daily meditation about not wasting money any longer on alcohol. My support network in AA is growing, and although I am quiet and tend to be scared of people, I am becoming more open and able to feel comfortable in my own skin. I am sober 12 days now and I slept so well last night, I had a dream and I can remember it, which I hope means that my brain is healing. This thanksgiving I will spend with my AA family and I am not bitter or resentful about not having family to spend the holiday with. Tonight I have a lot of writing to do but I am going to turn my work in tomorrow and then have a week to be kind to myself. Tonight I feel grateful that I am dealing with my alcoholism and my problems. Giving up on myself is not an option, and I don't have to hate myself any longer.

Sometimes I dread the 'checking in' posts, fearful that someone has slipped up or thrown in the towel. So it's especially gratifying to hear of someone doing well! Good for you.
