Hope this app is useful

Hi guys, 30 year old gay guy in the UK. Fresh into recovery in SAA (2 months soon ) was in OA too. Still dealing with sadness a lot but trying to be grateful and have reality checks about how lucky I am to be in recovery so I avoid self pity.

I don't like the sadness as it blocks me from my higher power and stops me from being free of self so I can be a good person.

I am praying a lot to take away my sadness but I know it is part of the recovery process.

Anyone have any tips of dealing with the sadness of recovery? Any hints would be appreciated

Hi and Welcome!

I do think sadness is part of recovery. It's often hard to shake the negative feelings in early recovery because there is a lot to deal with. You might find that keeping a Gratitude Journal is a good way to find things to be grateful for and happy about each day.

I hope you continue to read and post.
