I have been reading a LOT of posts the last 2 days since discovering SR and deciding that my last "once a month" all day binge was going to be my last ever. and I have decided you are all rock stars! I started thinking about the positives of being sober. I once went about 2 months without having a drop of alcohol. During that I time I remember thinking: I know every morning I am not going to feel like crap. I hate that feeling in the morning of "what did I do last night, did i get drunk?" During my dry months I would even dream sometimes about being drunk/hungover and it was always in a negative light!! I also used to social/drunk smoke cigarettes and feel really crappy about it the next day! and finally my fitness.. I work out a lot, and when I binge drink the night before I KNOW I am not going to do my run the next day. It sucked.

Knowing I won't binge drink anymore, even if that means I will never have a drink ever again, seems daunting.. but those GOOD things above are what I keep trying to focus on these days...

Best part about sobriety? Not being dead. Alive is much better. I much prefer it that way.

For me, the best thing about living sober is waking up feeling good. I used to wake up feeling like hell and hating myself. Not any more!

The best part about being sober for me is I got back my childhood curiosity and delight in simple things. Everything makes me smile these days.

I love being more positive about everything. Problems don't seem so big now just a minor hurdle to jump. No hangovers of course
