Complacency got me

Went out with colleagues last week for a bit of a celebration and didn't have a plan. You can probably guess how that ended. One drink led to another and so on....
Anyway back to square one and today is day 3. Feeling very humbled and a bit wiser.

welcome back oldselfagain.

yeah it's difficult to try and change when everything else, and everyone else, seems the same. A good plan is vital I think

any ideas for next time?

Yes, it takes a lot more than just stopping drinking to be able to recover.

Glad you're back!

Sometimes we need further proof that we can't touch it. I'm glad you're back and trying again. Maybe you'll be more motivated this time. You can do it.

What was often told to me was: forgive yourself, learn from it, and move forward again.

Congratulations on getting back because many don't because of the low self esteem that often is a result. I also had many relapses in my 1st two years. Then I became sick and tired of being sick and tired and started to listen without the ah buts blocking the view and finally heard things I needed to hear like being totally honest with myself about MY drinking, ready to devote a lot of work towards long term sobriety and be open to the fact that if I don't pick up the first drink I don't have to get sober AGAIN. All simple things but at times not always easy until we man up. BE WELL

Thanks for all of your supportive words. I've learned from this and now will be stronger going forward.
