Wink My car drives me to drink! Literally!

Yesterday, making my usual Saturday afternoon drive south on Bank St. to do some food shopping, my car turned itself in to the liquor store parking lot because we always stop there before continuing on to the food store.

Reminds me of when I was a kid and the milkman's horse used to walk the route himself because he knew it so well.

What a great feeling when my conscious brain wrested control back from the auto-pilot and I realized that I had no need to be there! I'm pretty sure my liver was happy to pull out of the parking lot again, and you know that it didn't hurt my wallet at all, either.

I could begin to like this.

I'm glad you took control over your car.

I hear ya on that one! I had lots of habits that I didn't even think about that were so ingrained that now whenever they pop up, I say it out loud to ridicule those thoughts. For example, one day after work, I turned the corner and was within sight of "home" and I suddenly saw myself opening a can of beer! I "heard the sound", and saw the "fizz" and even kind of smelled it! Powerful!!
I immediately replaced it with Oh, no, I am making microwave popcorn! I envisioned unfolding the popcorn bag in the microwave and pushing the "popcorn button", and "saw the bag getting bigger", and "heard the kernels popping!" All this happened in my mind within seconds, and the rest of the drive "home" I focused on making that popcorn like my life depended on it! Whew!

Congrats on the win. Keep it up . It'll get better

Good job. Sell your car if it tries that stunt again.

Yes, I found changing my routines and daily patterns really helpful, especially in the early days.

I'm very proud that you turned that car around! If things persist you could always buy a horse instead!

Best wishes
