Dizziness in restaurants
Dizziness in restaurants
I have had this strange phenomenon happen while sitting and eating at restaurants where I become extremely dizzy and disoriented. I used to attribute it to the buzz I was getting off the gin, wine, whatever, but it continues even in sobriety.
It only seems to happen in restaurants.
Curious if anyone else has experienced the same in sobriety or active drinking.
Thanks in advance.

That is odd. Perhaps it's psychosomatic related to anticipation of alcohol consumption. Or maybe sitting position in standard restaurant chairs. Don't know why that reaction would be centered on rooms devoted to people eating.
I do know if there is saltimbocca on the menu , I tend to gesture with my hands more

I've had something similar happen in crowded restaurants.
Seems to be a reaction to so many people talking at once.
Used to blame on the lighting, social anxiety, or the booze.
Never have figured it out, but I think its normal. Or at least as close to normal as I will ever be.

Yep, I had this but not only in restaurants. Also in crowded places that required (or I anticipated requiring) a high level of social interaction without booze to ease the way. I remember a work function early on where there was a bunch of people and I got that distinct dizzy sensation and thought I was going to pass out. I definitely used to get it when I was drinking but I would just drink more until it went away.
So, yes, I would tend to agree that it is probably low-level anxiety peeking through without the aid of booze.
It passed for me after a few months.
Love ya.

I agree with it being anxiety. It can be related to specific places and the symptoms you describe fit.
I used to get this waiting at the bus stop. And only then and there. Waiting anywhere else wouldn't trigger a thing.
But if you're concerned, you can always ask your doc.
