Finally coming to the realization that i am an alcoholic
Hi everyone, I'm new here and after 4 years of drinking I am finally ready to admit to myself that I am an alcoholic. I drink everyday after my husband gets home and its not a drink here or there, it's a 12 pack and or a couple bottles of wine. After completely blacking out Friday I knew that enough was enough. I am starting meetings tonight but I am absolutely terrified. I've been sober now for 2 days and it doesn't seem like much but I feel accomplished. I've been shakey and Moody but something clicked in my head and I am determined to not go back to drinking. Thanks for letting me introduce myself and I can't wait to join everyone on our road to recovery. Also, If anyone has any tips for a newcomer that would be amazing.
Welcome Brinn. I'm glad you found us.

Lots of reading but some great info and experience shared there about what to expect.

Keep going to as many meetings as you can, even 2 a day! Just to get the support and stories.
Listen to people's experience, strength and hope.
Get people's numbers so you can call them anytime, for support.
You are doing so well at 2 days! You will feel so good soon you won't know yourself.
Congratulations! X

Welcome Brinn - If you are ready to quit drinking than you have found a great place for support. This site has kept me sober for almost 2 months. I encourage you to join the October class as you will get a great deal of support and encouragement from others in the same position as yourself. Take care and best wishes in your sobriety.
Glad to meet you Brinn! I think 2 days is a great achievement. We know how hard it is.
I wish I'd stopped drinking long ago when I felt the way you do. I knew I wasn't drinking normally & that I was headed for trouble - but I kept trying to manage it. My life would've been so different if I'd done what you're doing now. Be proud of yourself and look forward to being free of it.
