Day Two Anxious, Sad a little lost
I am happy to have woken up sober. It is great not to feel hung over! I am feeling a little lost, lots to do and no motivation to do anything. I want to feel better right away and have my life back in order. I know that is not possible.
It feels good to write and to know that ther is a community out there that understands how I feel.
I want it, I want it, I want it....
It seems to be habit and comulsion combined.

I feel like i want the shattered pieces to go together fast too! Look at it like a puzzle. Every day sober you get a piece. And after time you will build the puzzle again.....took time to get you here. Will take time to get you out. Be patient!
Hello and welcome to SR, good to have you with us.
The early days were very bewildering for me too. I was tired and more than a little lost. Hang around with us, we understand. Be gentle on yourself, drink plenty of water and rest.

I forgot to say welcome.....you truly are with an elite group of people. When I was going through detox, feeling like i was dying, not one person did not fail to show compassion or support! There is nothing you can say here nobody may have not been through. My signature below shows the happy faces circling around. I chose that icon because that is how i felt when i got here..broken beat and scarred....but i was rallied around with support. That is my support ring. I am now able to join this yellow person rally, lol. Hope you join the rally too soon...for now we will circle you. You will feel better in time. So welcome to SR and STAY, POST OFTEN especially during the early stages!!!!! Let us know how you are at any given moment. You cant post enough here. There is ALWAYS a hand to catch you!!!! I promise.
Welcome and nice job on deciding to quit. The early days are tough for sure, that is not exactly some deep insight, but know that they get better. What worked for me was trying to stay out of my own head. Sounds complicated but the more I just sat there with my own thoughts the worse it got. Try to keep your mind busy and keep checking in. It always feels good to post your thoughts and help someone else who just decided to quit. Hang tough!!
Zumba - it takes time to get your life back, one day at a time in fact. You may be surprised to find out along the way that the life you are getting back is 100 fold better than the one you left behind. WeLcOmE!
Zumba - I have found that one of the best things about these forums is all the different groups you can join. You can chat with people who have the same amount of sobriety as you, and you can ask for guidance from those who have YEARS of sobriety. It's really wonderful.

It's great to see that you know what you want so early. I'm sure it helps. Learning how to wait's something I've never been good at but the last years been quite rocky but amazingly looking back how much better and easier life is.
Good luck.
John.

Happy to meet you Zumba. I felt a little lost in the beginning too - I'd been using alcohol to cope with everything & needed to learn to live in a different way. Your life will be back in order and you'll feel great - but be patient with yourself. We're glad you're here to talk it over.
