brownie374 sobriety journey take 2

Hi all,

I joined in July. Got great support for the short time I was here. Did not touch a drink for eight days. EIGHT WHOLE DAYS!!! Haven't done that in a long time...so SURELY I was not an alcoholic (after drinking pretty much every day for the past 3 years). About day 4 or 5 into my walk with sobriety I thought I kicked the habit and didn't need SR any more (LOLLLL). So pretty much stopped coming here. Oh I popped in for a couple of minutes here and there to lurk. All that to say that clearly sobriety is not an easy journey and I have learned not just from the words of wisdom heard here but from experience that this is not an easy walk and that there will be many stumbles along the way but I need to get my life back so here I am...again.

Welcome back. It's not normally a cake walk for most but can be made easier IF we are honest with our self, which is difficult for many of us concerning our drinking. One thing that helped me till the strong desire left me was to train myself to NOT to think about drinking and associate with people who understand me in person at AA meetings. This process getting to this point took many of us a fair amount of time and stopping is going to take more than a couple days. BE WELL
