New to the Site and Glad to be Here

Hello everybody,

I'm really glad to have found this site and be making this post (a post I never thought I'd be making). I had issues with alcohol a while back and tried to deal with that before I even knew what recovery was. I've been prescribed benzos for a few years now and used them on and off until it began getting more and more regular. It takes a long time to see when you've crossed the line when you're hiding behind a prescription, but when I started mixing it with alcohol I couldn't hide it anymore. 8/13/13 is the day I decided to get my life back, and now I'm here with all of you wonderful people.

Congrats on coming back. It can be a miserable road to travel alone, the bumps get bigger, and the lonliness can make one do funny things. Again, Thanks for being here

pr89 - We're so happy you joined us! This is the best place ever for support, encouragement, and friendship. Great job on your sober days.

Zoe - Your post brought back horrible Sunday night memories. I vowed the same thing - to stop at a certain point - and it never happened. Waking up to get ready for work with that horrible dizziness & desperation. Noooo - never again.

Welcome!

If only we could see when we are approaching that invisible line, but we never do - not until we've crossed it and we can't go back.

Traveling the road alone is one of my biggest triggers. At least 90% of the poor choices I've made in life have been due to loneliness, so this post really speaks to me.

I really appreciate everyone's warm welcome to the site! Early sobriety makes me very emotional, so it's a bit overwhelming, and all these nice responses are leaving me a little speechless. Thanks everybody

hi pr89
I have commented on the emotional aspect of early sobriety, but it felt good to feel it, right, the numbness is wearing off
this is a great place to start a journey back, wish you the best

It really is good to feel the numbness leaving. It's horrible having all the negative things coming out, but horrible in a great way to know it's leading somewhere good.

Thanks for the advice. It's helping so much more than I realized it would. I was having a rough day and getting on here has really turned it around.
