60 days!
60 days!
If you told me on May 26th that by today I would be 60 days alcohol free and would get past 8 weekends with no alcohol I would have laughed at you. However, here I sit and it's come to fruition.
I couldn't have done it without AA, my sponsor, and SR. All tools I needed to assist me in remembering why I am doing what I'm doing and to give me the determination that I needed.
However, if I can really credit one thing that got me to where I am today it was having a plan of action for every time that I had the urge. Without that I wouldn't still be on here. For that reason I think that what feeds an AV is an idle mind. Once busy doing something else the voice is drowned out.
Secondly, it was realizing that if I had an urge that it's not like it was going to go on 24/7 and not leave me. That it would pass, and doing something to sideline it would help it pass much faster. It was great in my second weekend when the AV started and I got up and began doing something else that forced me to concentrate. After a period of time I stopped and realized "wow, it's gone, it's passed, it does happen!". The key is staying busy when you begin hearing the AV. That and having a plan in place so that you don't have to find something to do.
I'm still just a youngster in sobriety but am learning what works for me. I haven't known the peace that I have in my life now since I was a child.
I can't be any more thankful.
Thank you to all here who have helped me greatly to get where I am today! There's a lot of great wisdom on these boards!
A special thanks to deeker for giving me a place to go when I was going to be in a situation that included alcohol. It's the 24 hour club that has gotten me through, including yesterday. When I sign up for the 24 hour club I'm in. There is no choice, I must get through it. By the time that the 24 hrs is up the situation has passed there isn't any need to drink.

Congratulations on 60 days! ! ! !
Not bragging, but I'm at 128 days today.
I come to SR almost everyday to remind myself that DAY ONE is only ONE drink away.
Your post is a good reminder.

"Well she's all you'd ever want,
She's the kind they'd like to flaunt and take to dinner.
Well she always knows her place.
She's got style, she's got grace, She's a winner.
She's a Lady. Whoa whoa whoa, She's a Lady."
Congratulations my provincial sista! Great wisdom in your post. Thanks for sharing that!
