Finally took that step...
Finally took that step...
Well after 78 days of sobriety, I finally opened up with my mom about my drinking problem and new sobriety. I had initially told my family that I had quit drinking because I am dieting (I just wanted a little time to focus on me and my new sobriety before I had to start sharing it with the world). She had a clue already because I had dropped a hint or two, but today was the first day I told her out loud.
It was such a great conversation. I knew it would go well because my mom is a recovering alcoholic for the past 39 years!!!! She was so understanding and supportive, and passed on to me her 1 year chip that she received on Valentines Day in 1975 so that I can hold on to it as a means of support.
I feel a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
I want to thank you all again for being here to listen to my concerns, accomplishments and giving me supportive words when I needed it.
This place has helped so much now, and I am so glad I have a family member I can talk to now that understands what I am going through. My husband is as supportive as he can be, but because he does not have a problem with alcohol...he just doesn't get it. Not his fault...just the way it is.
Anyway...thanks again:-)
