I understand how you feel. Stay strong and fight against it. You only get one chance at life. Don't just be a drunk, be what you want to be.

In short the answer to your question is; the fear will be much more likely to go if you're sober.

If you're struggling try out the chat room. People all working together to stay sober. It's certainly been a positive influence on my life.

Deadlift, I realized early on I would have to get back into the real world sooner or later so I mentally prepared myself for it, I made sure I stayed away from bars and my old drinking buddies, wouldn't walk down the liquor isles in the supermarket and diverted my attention the best I could. Once I started going back out it wasn't all that bad, although I don't let my guard down at all when I do go out. At 3 years sober I feel good about staying sober permanently. You can do it, rootin for ya.

I'm glad you're feeling a little better - give the meds a chance to work, and take them as directed - if later on you feel concerned about taking them you can always revisit your Dr

Exercise has been my tool, and it has been very effective. I have 9 months now and the endorphines form exercise have carried me through. I was a drinker/druggy and my brain chemistry was shot-out. Good food/nutrition will support the regrowth of the body and brain. Remember our 'feelings' are bio-chemical processes, and during our alcohol/drug abuse we damage those systems responsible for maintaining and regulating healthy/happy function. Support and supplement your mind/body/brain and get active. GO OUTSIDE, hell GO FOR A JOG, just to break a sweat, you will feel sooo much better. Best of Luck friend.

DL- Not only has exercise supported my bodily/mental/emotional health but it has provided an outlet for me, allowed me to meet and socialize with positive people, and help re-build my self esteem and confidence; which I had shattered through years of self-sabotage and self-destructive behaviors. I have thrown myself into fitness 1000%. I have made so many good new-life friends at my local gym and it has really supported my positive growth.-Good Job keep it up friend!
