I understand how you feel. Stay strong and fight against it. You only get one chance at life. Don't just be a drunk, be what you want to be.
In short the answer to your question is; the fear will be much more likely to go if you're sober.
If you're struggling try out the chat room. People all working together to stay sober. It's certainly been a positive influence on my life.

Deadlift, I realized early on I would have to get back into the real world sooner or later so I mentally prepared myself for it, I made sure I stayed away from bars and my old drinking buddies, wouldn't walk down the liquor isles in the supermarket and diverted my attention the best I could. Once I started going back out it wasn't all that bad, although I don't let my guard down at all when I do go out. At 3 years sober I feel good about staying sober permanently. You can do it, rootin for ya.

hello everyone
does any one have any idea how long it will take for my nervous system to settle down, seems like I have lost all my courage to even go outside the house.
I don't think I have been sober for more than 2 months in 20 years
hope this doesn't go on forever I really want this to work this time but cant stand the anxiety
thanks

DL- Not only has exercise supported my bodily/mental/emotional health but it has provided an outlet for me, allowed me to meet and socialize with positive people, and help re-build my self esteem and confidence; which I had shattered through years of self-sabotage and self-destructive behaviors. I have thrown myself into fitness 1000%. I have made so many good new-life friends at my local gym and it has really supported my positive growth.-Good Job keep it up friend!
