Reasons of Reminder - The GOOD and BAD List to Abstenience

The Good List

Wake up clear-headed
Tackle more tasks during my day
Better Productivity in everything I do
Lose weight (those extra alcohol calories are a killer)
Exercise better (the ability to get in a good workout rather than going through the motions)
Fit into my closet full of clothes that no longer fit
Better at 'feeling' instead of numbing, no matter if that feeling is good or bad
Get sick less
Learn to handle stress in a normal way (better way)
Better relationships
Letting go of bad relationships
Having more time to explore new things
Being bored and learning how to cope with that
No more wasted time on being drunk and the hangover process
More time to read, write, pick up a hobby
More productive at work
Skin looks clearer, better
Well rested (I hope so soon)
Making life choices or changes with a clear mind
Taking care of YOU
Learning to love yourself and all those faults inbetween - and liking who you see in the mirror
Finding like minded folks who share your same plight and understand without judgement
Make new friends
Release old ones that you know are not of the same mindset as you anymore
Putting yourself as #1 (I have had trouble with this all my life)
No more obsession about the next drink or if you have enough at home
No more overeating due to alcohol, no more extra empty calories
No more tolerance level and having to drink more to achieve the same effect
No more liver scarring due to drinking too much
No more malnutrition
No more sounding like an idiot because you had too much to drink
No more being broke because you spend an obscene amount of money on alcohol
No more late nights due to being drunk and waking up with a hangover
No more bad drunk decisions
No more bumping into things wondering where the hell you got that bruise from
No more forgetting where your keys are and wondering where all your money went the night before
Remembering that alcohol is a liquid drug - and its effects are progressive and cumulative. Where you are, biologially with alcohol, is where you will always be, and there is NO going back to normal.

The Bad List

An hour or so of euphoria (as alcohol releases dopamine).

Uh.. that is all i can think of, seriously.

Reading this list helps me everyday - helps me to say NO to it.

Hope it helps some of you as well.

Thank you so much! I am going to look at this whenever I want to go out and drink! This is great.

Yes, it helps me to rethink when I feel, hey, I can 'control' it.

No, for me? There is no benefit to drinking anymore. I want to achieve everything on the GOOD list

Feel free to add to the list.. the good and the bad! I think it will help a ton of people who read it

This is great - thank you!

For me: No more humiliation about what you did the day/night before.

GE and Ham, can I add that to the list? Since I can edit, I can make changes to it and add as people see fit. Does that sound ok? Can I also put in parentheses your screen name?

Let me know!

Another for the good list: Now that I am sober, people treat me with more respect because I am respecting myself.
