Four years today!
Four years ago today I was lying in the local emergency room, suffering from a severe panic attack, questioning my own sanity. As I was coming back around, I had a moment of clarity...I decided then and there that I'd had enough. After nearly 30 years of drinking (20 years as a "weekend warrior" and nearly 10 years as a daily drunk) I decided to stop for good. With the support of some close family members and friends, and with the good folks here at SR, I'm now starting the 5th year of my wonderful new life.
For those of you still struggling, I know how you feel. I can't count the number of times I vowed to quit, only to return right back to drinking more often, and in more and more quantities than ever before. I thought for sure that I would wind up drinking myself to death. Thankfully that didn't happen to me and it doesn't have to happen to you. The fact that you're reading this means that there's hope. Don't ever give up. If I can do this, anybody can.

You are terrific. Your sobriety is inspiring. Thank you for coming here daily and posting and inspiring others. Despite four years sobriety, you dont take it for granted and you never forget how fragile yet wonderous it is. Congratulations!

And thanks for the inspiration and your continued support here. It is so great to have people here with long term sobriety to show us that it is possible
