Glad you found something that works for you LG. The first few days of quitting are by far the hardest in my opinion, so it's great you have a plan to make it through. Be strong and keep up the good work!

I am so glad you found a method which works for you I myself work an "hybrid" program and do use some AVRT for my sobriety. I found its tools to be very useful. My take on the SR Newcomer Forum Policy is to keep it informative and not compare systems and 'argue which could really confuse and even turn off a new person.
You can find used copies of Rational Recovery:The new cure for substance abuse addiction for a few bucks on Amazon and Ebay and it's definitely worth reading.
My take on it is that the more tools we are aware of when it comes to alcoholism, the better chance we have to make it

Congrats, Lessgravity. AVRT saved my life, too. It's unbelievable how powerful it is to make that Big Plan. My Beast is in its cage now with no way to get out. I choose now if I will drink, not the Beast- and I have chosen NO!

double bump b/c this stuff really does work!
Further reading into the techniques and insights shows that this method, is actually a fine tuned description of how quitting/stopping is achieved. The process is self directed and self achieved by necessity, its the way we work, us humans.

EarthSteps, the Crash Course in AVRT will take you just a few minutes to find, and not much longer than that to read. Point your googler at rational recovery crash course and see if what you find there makes sense to you.

Thanks again, Less Gravity, for sharing about your wonderful success in sobriety, and congratulations on your Big Plan. Congratulations to you!

CutenGay, glad to hear that things are working out so well for you. Remember the source of any thought (so far so good, but......) that they may change in the future, OK? Yep, your AV! Same as the idea of getting a beer on the way home, or whatever your AV was accustomed to before you made your Big Plan. AV again.

You can do it! Believe in yourself and set your confidence dial at 11. Onward!
