Trying again
I just moved to a new city a month ago, and after going from getting black out drunk 4 times a week to 9 months sober, to a three day binge that had the police called on me, I'm ready to try yet again to get and stay sober. I'm not confident it will work this time either but I guess I have to try.

I don't know how confident any of us are phenomenal. We are each trying our best day by day...sometimes minute by minute or situation by situation. Today is a new day and a new start and you made a good fresh decision coming here. Get through today and deal with tomorrow when it arrives. Be proud you are sober and trying right this minute.
Welcome

Hi Phenomenal
I really believe we get back what we put in - if we give recovery all we have effort wise and commitment wise, we really can stay sober
Think about what you did before to stay sober - then think of what you need to add this time - you can do it

Your previous quits are behind you...this is a new one. I can sense you feel defeated. I accidentally posted what I intended to post to you in another...
We have to be open to sobriety to received the gift of it. I don't know if we addicts can ever "own" sobriety and feel like "oh ya, I"m all good now". We receive if we want it and we protect it..with all our might...and hopefuly we learn with each failure.
It's a gift. So just keep loading up on the "presents" and start a new life...day by day.

I think it takes vigilance too - it's easy to be committed in the early days..and desperate too...but you know how it is...memories fade, fear lessens, and we can take things for granted later on.
That's where a place like SR can help keep us grounded and focused

if you always do, what you always did, you always get, what you always got. So the question is what are you going to do different this time? in otderto stay sober you only have to change one thing. That one thing is everything

You have the willingness...
I am glad you are here at SR
You are not alone...believe me if I can come back from the brinks of death several times after relapses and now live a sober life...you can to...
we have more commonality than differences concerning addiction and recovery.
This is a good post to end the day with...thank you...my hope is to read your post next time that you put down the drink at least for a day and given yourself another chance.
