Day 7 check in

On day 7 without drinking or smoking. Being on SR helps me stay sober because I don't want to post that I slipped up and drank. Driving home the rest of the way now and will be cleaning my place and grocery shopping tonight.

Back home and cleaned and washed my sheets. I am going to walk a while and hope it doesnt start raining again. One week down and feeling lonely but good about myself. I will post some good lines from the poetry I have been reading after I walk.

Nice work. Sadly I can't remember the last time I've gone 7 days without a drink. Keep it up.

Man oh man. I went walking and started running. I cannot believe what one week without smoking has done to improve my stamina! I sprinted and walked, sprinted and walked, for about two hours. This is one million times better than being drunk, and I believe if I keep up a good diet and daily exercise I can really see some substantial improvement in the coming weeks. This is my first sober summer in ten years! Let me find a good line from one of my books....

"More and more you learn to live
with the unacceptable.
You sense the ever-hidden God
retreating even farther,
terrified or embarrassed.
You might as well be a clown,
big silly clothes, no evidence of desire."
--From "Before The Sky Darkens" by Stephen Dunn
