Struggling to string together more than a few days of sobriety
I had several months clean and sober. I've been slipping lately.
I go strong for days at a time. No booze, no nothing. Then I have a stressful day at the office and end up making a stop at the liquor store on the way home. I'll imbibe heavily for a night or two and, feeling guilty, pour out the contents of the bottle. Then I repeat the cycle all over again.
I have a tendency to catastrophize. I get so overwhelmed and feel like I just need to escape. It would appear that my coping mechanisms aren't so great.
How do I break the cycle?

Hi, Spicymustard.
I second what OneLessLonely said. And make a plan. Real plan what to do when you are stressed out and turn to the bottle. Stress is part of our life, so it's essential to learn to cope with it.
What can you do instead of drinking? Come up with some idea and focus on your sobriety. It will pay off.
Best luck to you.
